Early Life and Vocation
Carroll Stuhlumueller was born in Hamilton, Ohio in 1923, and expressed interest in entering the priesthood at a young age. In 1936, he began attending the Passionist Preparatory Seminary in Missouri; he then entered the Passionist novitiate at St. Paul, Kansas, and made his first profession of vows in 1943. He studied philosophy for three years at the Passionist House in Detroit, and then theological studies for four years at the Passionist theologates in Chicago and Louisville.
